Pancreatic Cancer
I Choose SomArray Pancreas Basic
With SomArray Pancreas Basic we focus on detecting the expression of 4 MMR/MSI proteins (or genes) (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2) and HER2 protein, while PD-L1 biomarker can also be added to the panel.
Consult your Oncologist to get the best possible choice for you and personalized treatment. Further personalization of exams is possible.
In case your sample is not already in microDiagnostics Ltd archives Contact us to arrange safe and fast shipping to our laboratory. You will also need to complete easily and quickly a Consent Form.
I Choose SomArray Pancreas Broad
With SomArray Pancreas Broad we focus on the 4 proteins (or genes) MMR / MSI (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2), the BRCA1 & BRCA2 genes, and additionally 9 genes that statistically show more frequently genetic instability in pancreatic cancer.
Consult your Oncologist to get the best possible choice for you and personalized treatment. Further personalization of exams is possible.

The number and type of mutations that are examined are being upgraded through a dynamic process, according to current scientific research. It should, therefore, be recognized that there is a possibility that the list of genes in the order form may have changed (genes that are added or removed) while analyzing the sample in the laboratory.
What is the clinical use of SomArray Pancreas test?
If you have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (diagnosis based on histological or cytological examination), it is possible that the indications for determining the molecular profile of the cancer are met. This molecular test aims to detect whether the tumor has mutations in genes (BRCA1, BRCA2) or a disorder of protein expression (MMR/MSI) that are closely related to the development of pancreatic cancer.
Based on the determination of the molecular profile, the Oncologist is given the opportunity to choose the optimal chemotherapeutic regimen, or immunotherapy, depending on the stage of the tumor.
There is the possibility of enriching the panel with additional 9 genes, aiming at a wider investigation of the molecular profile of the tumor. Consult your oncologist for the best option for you.
What sample is needed and how is SomArray Pancreas performed in MicroDiagnostics Ltd?
The test is performed on the biopsy material or surgical specimen (paraffin blocks) on which your histological examination was performed as well.
In case your sample is not already in the microDiagnostics’ Ltd archive, contact us to undertake its safe and fast transfer to our laboratory.

One-touch approach – Strategic sample management, Time saving
In our vertical integrated Laboratory, we handle your sample in such way as to minimize its unnecessary waste:
- The paraffin block is placed, if possible, once on the microtome to obtain tissue incisions by experienced histotechnologists.
- Incisions are sequentially acquired in such a way as to provide immunohistochemistry diagnosis, if required.
- Ensure maintenance of incisions for further molecular testing.
- Pathologists perform microdissection, in order to ensure the highest possible amount of cancer cells, removing all other necrotic cells or normal tissue that could affect the validity of the results.
- Directly, the molecular biologist treats the tissue in a completely controlled environment with next-generation sequencing (NGS), or polymerase chain reaction of real-time (Real-time PCR) for the detection of mutations in genes of interest.
